MLG For Families

The Move Learn Grow Program was developed with the passion to reach more children, to fill in the developmental and learning gaps noticed through observation and research. It aims to assist children in their earlier years to overcome or adapt to physical and/or mental limitations, enabling them to strengthen neurological foundations, whilst building social awareness, self-esteem and confidence. Move Learn Grow is designed and run by therapists and specialised physical education teachers, trained in child development. Activities are graded to meet individual children’s needs, often supported through evidence based standardised testing. Sessions are developed with children in mind to ensure that they are fun, positive, achievable, engaging, stimulating and confidence building.

In today’s current climate we are seeing an evolving increase in developmental challenges and diagnoses including developmental delays, spectrum disorders, Sensory Processing Disorders (SPD), social difficulties, anxieties, learning difficulties and numerous other concerns. If your child has significant challenges in any one of these areas then we recommend that you seek one-on-one Occupational Therapy Intervention. Move Learn Grow is not designed to replace OT services but has been designed as a group session to help support a broader range of children that would benefit from skill development.

Move Learn Grow is also designed for children to build on their self-esteem and confidence, particularly in motor development. Introducing your child too early to a specific sport, can sometimes have a negative impact, if they haven’t got the foundational skills for that particular area. By working on these skill sets and supporting reflex integration, Move Learn Grow is a unique program that can help foster these abilities to then progress more positively in team sports.

Move Learn Grow can assist your child if they have difficulty with one or more of the following areas:

  • Fine motor tasks
  • Gross motor tasks, movement, coordination, balance and ball skills
  • Sensory and perceptual skills for learning
  • Handwriting and letter formation
  • Posture, strength and endurance
  • Understanding directions and spatial awareness
  • Concentration, attention and/or completing school work
  • Planning and organisational skills
  • Low self-esteem or reduced confidence
  • Socialising
  • Difficulty coping with stress, change and/or new environments
  • School readiness
